HANNA PARK, FL TO BRUNSWICK, GA: Time Marches On

We failed to report from our last location - Kathryn Hanna Park, near Jacksonville, FL, where we've stayed many times.   We spent the last week near our daughter Karen, with daily visits in her home.  Karen's father-in-law, Jim, hosted a Thanksgiving dinner with many savory dishes.  The week went by quickly, and once again it was time to move on.

Today we made the short drive from Hanna Park to the Coastal Georgia RV Resort near Brunswick, GA for a two-week stay.  This is a return visit for us to a pristine campground with free cable and WiFi, and a large clubhouse where we'll be gathering next week with a group of friends.  This week will be a chance to catch up on chores and do some sight-seeing in the area.

GOOD-BYE HOLT, FL...HELLO MADISON, FL

Our 8 day stay in Holt, Fl at the Rivers Edge Campground was enjoyable but very busy.  We visited many campgrounds along the Gulf beach areas setting up events for Sky Med, took care of many computer chores and running errands in nearby Crestview.  This was the first opportunity to visit the mail service we use - MyRVMail - and as expected, it's a very efficient operation.

This morning, it was time to pull up the jacks and get the wheels rolling.  Tonight we're at the Yogi Bear Jellystone Campground in Madison, FL alongside of I-10.  This is a family campground with lots of activities in season.  For us, it's an economical overnight stop using Passport America along our route to Atlantic Beach, Fl which is east of Jacksonville.  The 212 mile trip took about 5 hours including a fuel stop and lunch break.  We're in a long pull-thru site (#1)- with full hookups and free WiFI....no need to unhook the car.

Tomorrow, we'll finish our drive to the Atlantic coast and we look forward to spending Thanksgiving week visiting with daughter Karen and her family. 

HOLT, FL: Moving to a New Location

We had a wonderful time during the last week in the Louisville, Ky area as we visited family and friends, and attended a nephew's wedding.  Selene met up with a friend from grade school and high school for the first time in over 40 years and what a trip down memory lane that was! 

Yesterday, we drove from Shepherdsville, KY to the WalMart in Alabaster, AL.  Last night, we enjoyed dinner with our daughter Debbie and her husband, Robert at Ruby Tuesday's.  This morning, we enjoyed breakfast with our daughter, Kathy, at Steak and Shake.  Then we got the wheels moving on Little House and  drove to Holt, FL in the Florida panhandle to the River's Edge Campground.

River's Edge is in a wooded setting on the bank of the Yellow River, and is off the beaten path so it's very quiet.  Sites are large and roomy, and we were very lucky to get a site as they were almost full.  So far, the free Wi-Fi is working great, which is important since we're already at 75% on our Verizon data plan for the month.  We're in this location to visit our legal Florida address in Crestview, which is actually at a mail service, as well as to start our work as Sky Med reps in this general area.

We're looking forward to what should be a very interesting week to come.

SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY: Family Time!!

Thursday, we left Chattanooga early in the day which made it easy to decide to drive all the way to Shepherdsville before stopping.  The Tennessee mountains east of Chattanooga were in full color even without the sun getting through the heavy overcast. Google Maps took us around Nashville via Briley Parkway - a much more pleasant drive than coping with the heavy interstate traffic through the center of town.  From there it was an easy drive to Grandma's RV Park in Shepherdsville.    Grandma's is a basic, clean, family-owned campground with paved roads and level gravel sites located just off of I-65. The hookups are good even though the WiFi is not. Over the air TV reception is also good since we're just down the road from Louisville, and with large trees around, satellite reception would be good also. Tonight we're attending the wedding of our nephew, Chris, and the next week will be spent visiting with family and friends.  The weather has cooled down and it definitely feels like fall.

CHATTANOOGA, TN: Just Inside the Line

Yesterday, we left the WalMart in Valdosta, GA to continue our journey north on I-75.  We made a lunch stop at the Cracker Barrel in Warner-Robbins to meet up with George and Janice - RV/ham radio friends - for a nice visit. Then, it was back on the road to get through the Atlanta area on our way to Chattanooga.  Amazingly, we didn't have any delays going through Atlanta on I-75, in spire of the usual heavy traffic, and pulled into the Holiday Trav-L Park at Exit 1 in Chattanooga, TN around 5 P.M. after a stop for fuel..

This is an older park and the sites are very close together, but the hookups appear to be in good shape, and there's free cable TV and decent free Wi-Fi.  The wheels on Little House have been moving a lot lately, and it's nice to get a break from highway travel to sit for a bit.  A month ago, we were enjoying New England in the fall with cool temperatures and autumn colors all around.  Then we reached Florida where it was hot and humid.  Now we're enjoying autumn once again with cooler temperatures and fall colors here in the Tennessee mountains.

LAKELAND TO SEFFNER TO VALDOSTA

Yesterday, around noon, we left Lakeland, FL for the 40 minute drive to Seffner, just east of Tampa.  Our destinations was the LazyDays RV dealership and campgound. Overnight stays at Lazydays also include free breakfast and lunch in their Front Porch caffe.  This morning about 8:15, we took Little House to the service area for our 9:30 appointment to get a chassis lubrication.  Lazydays has a huge service department and is known for running behind their appointment times.  We finally saw the service writer about 10:30, and turned the RV over to him.  We left LazyDays at 4:11 this afternoon.  Normally, we don't drive after dark, but Hank wanted to get some miles behind us.  Our overnight destination was the Walmart in Valdosta, GA.  The trip took about 4 1/2  hours of travel time, plus one pit stop, and a fuel and dinner stop at a Flying J/Denny's.

Tonight, there are several RV's parked around the perimeter of the Walmart lot, but there was still room for us in a parking area  along a grassy area, which meant we could extend the bedroom slide without being in anybody's way. Our drive was dry until we reached Valdosta.  There may be occasional rain all night long. 

WALTERBORO TO JACKSONVILLE TO LAKELAND

It's time to catch up where we've been and where we are.

Sunday (Oct. 25) we drove from Walterboro, SC to Kathryn Hanna Park in Jacksonville, FL.  While we were at Hanna park, we met up with friends Dee & Jim, and Fred & Patti.  Both couples are RVers and ham radio operators.  We also had two great visits with our daughter, Karen,  and her family.  We'll be back in Jacksonville for Thanksgiving week.

Wednesday (Oct., 28), we drove to Lakeland, FL and the Sanlan RV and Golf Resort.  This is a huge campground, with different sections for mobile homes, park models and RV parking. The sites are close together, but the facilities are very nice.  We became SkyMed reps in July, and we came here  to meet with our regional director, other SkyMed corporate people including the president of the company, and fellow SkyMed reps, for more SkyMed  training.

We'll be here until Sunday, when we'll make the short trip to Seffner, FL and Lazydays RV to get a chassis lube for Little House, before making our way toward Louisville, KY.

The weather over the last few days has been typical for Florida - sunny and very warm with higher humidity levels.
