We were not happy being in the cold of winter instead of southern warmth. So we decided it was time to get Little House in a warmer climate.
We left Clayton about 10:30 A.M. and stopped at the New Green Acres Campground near Walterboro, SC (exit 53, I-95) about 4 P.M. We have stayed at this campground several times in the past, and it's known for it's very long pull-thru sites which are great for larger rigs towing a car, and then having the ability to stay hooked up on the site. Our journey was slowed somewhat due to very high winds left over from last night's storms,and we stopped 3 times to break up the trip (one pit stop, one lunch stop and one fuel stop).
Our next destination is northern Florida, where we'll stay for a few days before we head further south to Orlando.

Return to Clayton, NC
We pulled out of Grandma's RV Park in Shepherdsville, KY about 10:30 on Saturday morning, and arrived at the Newport, TN KOA about 4:30 P.M. with one stop for lunch and another for fuel. This campground is not fancy, but has what we needed - a long site so we didn't have to unhook the HHR, good 50 amp service, and free WIFI. The internet connection wasn't the best, but we have the MIIF for backup if needed.
On Sunday morning, we left Newport about 9:40 A.M. and arrived in Clayton, NC at Cooper's RV Park about 4 P.M. after a pit stop and a lunch stop.
As it stands now, we'll be stationary until around February 1st, when we head towards Florida.

Louisville, Ky: Final Night
With an impending mountain snowstorm on the horizon, we decided to extend our stay, first until Friday and then until Saturday morning. The roads should be clear of frozen matte by thenr, at least during the day, for our journey through the higher elevations.
We've had a wonderful stay, with greatl family times and delicious meals. Jan and Mike have managed to take in several movies. As always, it's sad to leave, but other matters are calling us away......school and work for Mike, and more house-emptying for Hank and Selene. Hope to be home by Sunday afternoon.

LOUISVILLE, KY: Fourth Night
Monday was spent at the Redle Inn enjoying their hospitality as they carried on with their busy schedules. We enjoyed a delicious spaghetti dinner and attendees included Sister Marilyn, Mary Kay, Colleen, and Skeeter. After dinner, Jan and Mike attended another movie. Monday night brought low temperature in the mid-twenties.
Tuesday dawned very overcast and the temperature barely made it above freezing by early afternoon. After lunch at the Redle Inn, there was a tour of Little House by Jan, Joel, Mary Kay and Colleen. Then it was back to the Redle's for another delicious dinner of roast pork. All meals have included a bounty of various pies and cookies for dessert. By early evening, sleet, rain and snowflakes were moving into the region. Our drive back to Little House was slower than usual, and as we headed to the campground, the precipitation changed to mostly rain. Tomorrow morning could be an interesting drive time. We decided to stay another night and leave on Thursday, when it should be somewhat warmer.

LOUISVILLE, KY: 2nd Day
Sunday dawned as a wet and dreary day, and the morning went by quickly. We cleaned the inside of the RV, wrapped Christmas presents, and prepared to head to the Redle Inn for the day. Our first stop, however, was at an automated car wash to get the HHR cleaned up. (I forgot to post earlier that we traded the Tahoe for a 2011 HHR on December 18 due to the Tahoe's ongoing and expensive problems). A towed vehicle always gets dirty, but add a wet trip into the mix and it's even worse!
After removing 300 miles of dirt from the car, we headed to the Redle Inn for another delicious lunch. Additional guests included Carolyn and Sophiea , Skeeter and his friend, John. During the afternoon, Mary Kay joined us and Rose Marie and Donna came for a visit. We had not seen Donna for a long time. Supper included delicious beef tenderloin and the added company of Mary Kirk, and Skeeter and Maggie. Hank, Mike and Jan went to a late-night showing of "Lincoln" while Joel and I visited, watched tv and napped! All in all, it was another great day!

UPDATE & ARRIVAL IN KENTUCKY
The last 3 1/2 weeks have been a time of frustration and disappointment, but also presented more opportunities to visit with Debbie and Kathy, and their families.
After arriving in Hoover, the washer/dryer combo developed a problem. On Dec. 27, we moved to the Camping World store in Calera, about 2 blocks from Debbie's house. After a diagnosis of the problem, a two week process began with the warranty company ordering two inspections, denying both claims, and then ultimately approving the claim. This process was lengthened due to two long, non-working weekends on their part, and the time it took for many phone calls and emails between Hank and the warranty company. On Jan. 10 , we took the money they allotted for new parts and had a new washer/dryer combo unit installed. The new unit has a slightly larger capacity and is easier to operate.
There were still lots of good times mixed in with the bad times during the wait, including a UA/Miami hockey game, meeting with old friends (Lunch Bunch) for several Fridays, and meals with Kathy and Debbie. Instead of going back to NC from New Year's Eve in Florida, Mike returned to AL and was able to continue to Ky with us for a late Christmas celebration there. Camping World allowed us to stay on their property with hookups at no cost to us. There always seems to be a bright spot on the horizon if we just remember to look.

The campground is basic in services, with long pull-thru sites, and free WIFI, but certainly is adequate for our needs and is less expensive than the Shepherdsville KOA where we've stayed before. After settling in, we enjoyed a great soup and sandwich dinner with Jan and Joel and started sharing hugs and laughter. Mike will stay at the Redle Inn until we hit the road on Jan. 16.
