Saturday, January 27, was the last full day of the Eastern Regional Fleetwood Motor Home Assn. Rally, and a full day it was. We started off with our free breakfast at the Cafe, then went to a 2 hour RV Open Forum with 3 moderators who had some good information on a variety of RV components, and encouraged attendees to participate as well. Then it was time for our last free lunch at the Cafe before participating in a rally flea market in the rally center. We had 6 items to sell and sold 5 so now we have a little more room for storage..During the flea market, there was an ice cream treat giveaway, so that helped to bring people in to see what treasures others had for sale.
We had a little time to relax before it was time to head back to the rally center for the last night of free drinks, dinner, prizes and entertainment. The dinner menu included prime rib and salmon, a vegetable mix of broccoli, carrots, green beans and sweet red peppers, baked potatoes, rolls, Caesar Salad, and cheesecake.
There were two drawings for a free January 2019 FMA rally for those that had turned in their registration - one from the FMA and one from Lazydays. More door prizes were given out. The evening's entertainment was provided by Johnny Wild and the Delights who gave an energetic performance that kept the dancers on the floor.
Sunday morning, it was time for hugs and handshakes as we enjoyed a continental breakfast - pastries, muffins, fruit salad, coffee, and juice as the last rally activity.
We hooked up the car and left Lazydays for the short trip back to Travelers Rest.

SEFFNER, FL: Fleetwood Motorhome Assn. Eastern Rally
We arrived at LazyDays RV Resort and Dealership on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for the FMA Eastern Rally. LazyDays is a large full-service resort and RV dealer, with 300 campsites. There are many amenities included in the campsite price including full hookups, cable TV, large heated & covered pool & hot tub, free breakfast and lunch items in the Front Porch Cafe, and daily delivery of the Tampa newspaper. The property also includes a large rally/entertainment center with catering, a Flying J store and fuel pumps, a Cracker Barrel restaurant, a hotel, 230 repair bays, a large RV equipment store, and over 1500 RV's for sale to tempt you while you're here.
This rally offers free service calls with factory technicians from Fleetwood at your campsite....no labor charge and reduced prices on parts. There are limits on what they'll work on, but this service is a great rally extra. With an older coach, we always have something for them to tend to, or questions to ask. They rehung a day/night shade that hadn't been installed properly last October, and cleaned a lot of lint out of the washer/dryer unit at no charge since no new parts were involved. Fleetwood also gives $1000 to attendees who purchase a new Fleetwood or American Coach RV during the rally.
This event includes 3 catered meals. Tuesday's dinner menu included turkey and dressing, fruited ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, salad, apple pie and 2 hours of free beer, wine, lemonade and tea.
Thursday's dinner was fried chicken, tilapia, squash, potato chunks, rolls, salad and sundaes with the same free beverages. Many door prizes were awarded after dinner. We won the first item - a gift pack from Bob Evans Farms that included several food items from their store, a t-shirt, a hat, a candle, coupons and small stuffed animal....ARV of at least $50.
Tuesday night's entertaner was BAT....a fantastic guitar player and singer who constantly interacts with the audience while going from one song to another with no pauses. Except for taking two sips of water, he played continuously for two amazing hours.
Wednesday evening was bingo night with prizes of gift cards.
Thursday's entertainer was comedian Harley Worthit who we had seen at TR on Jan. 14. Many of his routines were just as funny as the first time we heard them and the laughter was continuous.
Tonight's entertainment is a movie and popcorn.
Daytime events have included a vendor day (mostly women's items) several seminars on RV topics, and two harbor boat tours. There's been free time for sightseeing as well.

JANUARY 11-23, 2018: LIFE AT Travelers Rest
The first part of our stay at Travelers Rest went by quickly. We didn't do much that was exciting, but life doesn't have to be exciting to be enjoyable. With many friends staying here, and meeting new people everyday, conversation never lags. Hank continued to be very busy with his website work and Selene passes the time with computer interests and reading. TR has just about everything you need, other than a grocery store, but several days a week there are visits from a produce vendor, a bakery, and another vendor selling their wares. The Snack Shack is available for lunch Monday thru Saturday. The calendar is full of meetings and activities of all kinds, so there's not much time for boredom.
We enjoyed the free entertainment on two Sunday nights. On Jan. 14, Harley Worthit provided down home comedy that had the audience laughing almost continuously.

TRAVELERS REST, DADE CITY, FL: Our Home for Two Months
Little House will be stationary for almost 2 months at Travelers Rest Resort near Dade City, FL
Thursday, January 4, we made the 5 hour trip from Talahassee to TR (Travelers Rest) via I-10, I- 75 and a couple of county hightways. I-75 traffic was heavy in spots, and our travel time included a rest stop lunch and a fuel stop. TR never looked so good! We've already met up with several of our friends here, and look forward to seeing more as we start attending some of the many activities that take place here every day. We were late in getting our reservation in to TR this year. Last year we were in a more residential section for our entire stay, but this year we'll be in two spots on 'the hill' (the Golf View camping area), and one spot in Oak View (an overflow area). These sites in these areas are close together but all of them have full hookups, and are near the buildings where most of the resort's activities take place. Our current site overlooks the edge of the golf course, so its one of the more scenic spots in the park.
Medical problems can always show up when you least expect them. Hank has suffered with kidney stones before, including last year while we were at TR, which ended up with a 3 1/2 day stay in the Dade City hospital. Sunday morning, symptoms came on rather quickly and he decided a trip to the hospital ER in Zepherhills, FL was necessary. After 5 hours in the ER with exams, blood and urine tests, and a Cat Scan, it was determined that a small stone near the bladder was the cause of his discomfort. Pain meds were administered. along with prescriptions for Flomax and a pain reliever, and we were able to return home after a CVS stop to fill the presecriptions. At least, there was no talk of a hospital stay like he went through last year. So far, he's had no more pain and we're hoping that will continue to be the case.
There is professional entertainment on most Wednesday evenings(ticket required) and Sunday evenings (free). On Sunday, there's ice cream available before the show. Sunday night's entertainer was Tommy Johnson, keyboard artist with exceptional organ and piano skills. He has a long professional background including winning national talent contests as a young man The newsletter on the TR website has an article about. him.
Yesterday, there was an activity fair in the morning, with representatives from many of the 100 available activities present. Amatuer Radio is well represented here with an equipped radio shack and large antennas. We originally heard about TR from fellow hams and other campers.
The weather has returned to temperatures in the 70's with a nice breeze. There was overnight rain on Monday and Tuesday night, but the next day or so should be dry.

DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 3: Family Holidays Come To an End
Our family holiday visits continued with our time in central Alabama. We were able to visit with 4 of our 5 children and their significant others, 11 of 12 granchildren, one great grandson, a niece and her daughter from Louisville, Kentucky, and a number of extended family members and old friends. There was always plenty of Christmas spirit to go around, including some of the liquid variety, and plenty of hugs, smiles and stories to share. The weather for the last week was very cold with lows in the teens.
Now our family time is over for awhile, and today, January 3rd, it was time to pack up, leave Jemison, Alabama, and head south and search for warmer weather! However, Old Man Winter threw us a curve by delivering wintry weather to our scheduled destination today - Tallahassee, Florida - with road closings including a large section of I-10, downed power lines and many accidents. We stopped at the Florida welcome center for a late lunch and checked with the people there for the latest update and an alternate route. By the time we finished lunch and checked online updates, I-10 was open again so it was full speed ahead to our overnight stop at a Walmart in Talahassee,arriving aat dusk. The low temperature tonight is due to be 24! Hard to believe we're in Florida!
Tomorrow, we'll finish our trip to Travelers Rest near Dade City, FL where we'll spend most of January and February, hoping for plenty of Florida sunshine.
