We've had a very enjoyable week at the Mayberry Campground in Mt. Airy, NC. The 2014 Fall Rally of Escapees Chapter 29 (Carolina Rovers) was a huge success. There were 23 RVs and 43 people in attendance. The days and nights were filled with happy hours, campfires, 2 breakfast gatherings, a catered dinner provided by the Colfax Camping World store, a pot luck dinner, a couple of off-site dinners , and lots of conversation and laughter. Camping World also brought in several different RVs for campers to explore. The annual Mayberry Days festival was going on this weekend and many in the group attended some of those activities. We decided to skip the crowds and just enjoy life in the campground. Hank did take time for a dentist appointment in nearby Cana, VA to address a couple of problems, and we made a WalMart visit to stock up on groceries.
Today ( Sunday) was the last day for the rally. After a continental breakfast, there were plenty of hugs and handshakes as most of the members departed for home or other adventures. We'll be staying put until Wednesday, when we'll travel just up the road to Galax, VA.
