Saturday was the last full day of the SKPACRE.. Breakfast was "Breakfast in a Bag". Two raw eggs were put in a Ziploc bag with your name on it, and you added whatever ingredients you wanted such as cheese, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, bacon bits, etc. to the bag. You smushed it all over, pressed the air out if it, sealed it, and it was put in a large pot of boiling water for 10-15 minutes. When the mixture was set, it was given back to you, and ....voila!....you have your omelet, albeit a little misshapen. The result was pretty tasty. Dad opted for leftover biscuits and gravy. Breakfast was accompanied by good conversation with friends.
We had a chapter meeting from 10-12 A.M., then a quick lunch in the trailer before going to the RV dealership, also on the same property. to shop in their RV store and check out a few rigs. From 1-3 P.M. there was a presentation by a group from the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, complete with costumed participants, but we opted out of that activity.
4 P.M. brought the last Happy Hour for the rally, followed by an optional Roast Beef catered dinner. We were full of Happy Hour snacks and returned to the trailer for computer time. Last night there was a huge bonfire provided by the Rally Park, with some entertainment by attendees - singers with guitars - and people were getting in the last big chance to socialize with acquaintances.
Today started with a Hookup Social with leftover breakfast items from the week, and final hugs and handshakes for those that were leaving. We're staying here for the NC Good Sam Spring Rally along with 8 other rigs, with early-bird arrivals (including us) arriving tomorrow. We're pretty sure we'll have to change sites since we'll be parked with our other local chapter members and that location is pre-determined by the Samboree Staff. Even moving a few feet means going through most of our hitch-up routine, so the morning will be busy with packing up, moving and setting up again.
Tonight, the winds are gusting up to 25 mph, and temperatures will go down to 40 or so, but at least there's no snow predicted for this part of the state.
The SKPACRE was a very enjoyable way to spend a week, and we met lots of new friends as well as catching up some older ones;. The next week should be just as much fun around our Little House on the Road..
