OCTOBER 30 - NOVEMBER 1: Visit with Son & Slight Change in Plans

Monday, October 30, after the temperatures warmed up to the 40's, we left Pioneer Village Campground in Max Meadows, VA.  The trip down I-77 to Statesville, NC went smoothly. While there were fall colors in some of the trees, many others were still green or had already lost their leaves.  We checked into the Statesville KOA about mid-afternoon and made arrangements to meet up with our youngest son, Mike, who lives in Huntersville, NC....about 20 miles away.  We hadn't seen Mike since New Year's so it was great to see him again.

While we were in Max Meadows, Hank found that there was a slow leak of boiler fluid from the 450D Aqua-Hot system, so arrangements had been made for us to go to Clayton, NC east of Raleigh for repairs at Frank's Service Center, an authorized Aqua-Hot repair facility. Frank let us park overnight on the property, and provided us with a 30 amp electrical hookup.  Repairs should be made tomorrow, and then we'll head to Raleigh, NC for a 2 week stay.  The Raleigh area is where we spent 12 years before becoming full-time RVers, so we'll have a chance to meet up with some of the friends we left behind.  We're already enjoying the much warmer temperatures in this area.
