We don't normally like to travel 3 days in a row, but the desire to see friends determined that we needed to do just that.
On Friday, Dec. 15, we left Brunswick, GA and drove to the home of Anita and George on the north side of Macon, GA. They offered the use of their driveway with electric hookup for an overnight stay. It had been two years since we had seen them and their neighbors Beth & Don, so we couldn't pass up the chance to visit. We met these two ham radio/RV couples back in 2009, and always look forwad to being with them.
Saturday, Dec. 16 found us driving from Macon to Chattanooga,TN. Google's route showed going through Atlanta on I-75, but Hank wanted no part of that, so we drove some extra miles to get around Atlanta, driving on good state roads with much less traffic. When we got to north Georgia, there were were still remnants of last week's snow storm in off- the- road shady spots despite temperatures in the 50's. Our destination was the Walmart on the west side of Chattanooga, where we met up with Sam and Elizabeth, more ham radio friends, whom we had never met in person. The overnight stay was quiet except for an occasional horn blast from nearby trains!
Sunday, December 17 was the last leg of this 3-day event as we took I-24, Briley Parkway around Nashville, and I-65 to Grandma's RV Campground in Shepherdsville, KY for a 4 night stay and holiday family visits. The trip was uneventful under cloudy and drizzly skies. Grandma's is a basic campground with full hookups, level gravel pads, and close sites.
