Before leaving Concord yesterday, Hank did some maintenance chores and we pulled out around 12:45 P.M. As we traveled along Hwy.49 between Concord and Asheboro, we started seeing broken and downed trees that were victims of last Friday's ice storm. Many people in central NC are still without power. Luckily, there were no problems at our destination - the
Zooland Family Campground - although we had to take a lengthy detour along country roads to get there due to bridge repairs just down the road from the entrance (not storm related). This campground is very popular in the summer with many activities for families. The sites are very close together and many are not level, including ours, so it took a little time for Hank to get Little House settled on an even keel. We had a nice conversation with our neighbors, who had no power at their house in Greensboro and decided to go camping. Then we just relaxed for the rest of Sunday.
This morning (Monday) brought us another beautiful spring day We took a walk over to the fishing pond.
Here are pictures of our campsite. No one is parked right next to us on either side, so we have the feeling of a little more room. We put our patio rug out as well as our chairs and small table, and enjoyed the lovely weather while we ate lunch.
Whether we use the awning, patio rug, chairs, etc., depends on the length of our stay, weather and what activities are planned. With Mother Nature giving us such nice spring weather, it was easy to decide to add a few extras to "our space".
Another good day is ahead for tomorrow, then rain and colder weather will return.
