Yesterday (Wednesday) was another beautiful day with warm temperatures. The forecast was for late afternoon severe thunderstorms with high winds, followed by falling temperature and more high winds. Late in the day, we started putting away outside items, and Hank dumped the tanks and disconnected the water line while the weather was still nice. Right on schedule, severe storms approached, but although we had about 10 minutes of very heavy rain, the worst of the storm's wind went north of us. The wind after the storm did disrupt our power for about an hour last night, but our batteries kept us powered up and we didn't have to use the generator.
This morning dawned clear and cold. We left the Zooland Family Campground about 11:45 A.M. for the 90 minute drive through areas hard hit by two big storms in less than a week, to Jones Station RV Park south of Mebane, NC where it was clear, cold and windy. . This park just opened in January and will eventually have over 100 sites and more amenities. Now there are 36 gravel sites with full hookups, free Wifi, a bath house, and a meeting room to use for our gatherings in a rural location but only 4 miles from I-40.. We are here with the Sams-O-Wake Chapter of Good Sam for their monthly campout. There are 5 RV's here with 2 other couples without RV's joining us on Saturday.
Tonight we went to Ciao Pizza Italian Restaurant in Mebane where we enjoyed good food at reasonable prices and good service. After dinner, we stopped by T. Distefano's Bakery for tomorrow's breakfast donuts. Back at the campground, we gathered in the meeting room where the men played Dominos and the ladies shared laughter and conversation.
Tomorrow should bring warmer weather and more enjoyable activities.
