Little House stayed nice and dry overnight on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. We waited to leave until the rain was over so it was about 11:30 A.M. before we got the wheels rolling for our drive to Charleston, SC. Six hours later, we arrived at the Oak Plantation Campground where we are attending the fall rally for Escapees Chapter 29 (NC & SC). Selene is the secretary for this group. We joined the early arrivals for dinner at Gilligan's Seafood Restaurant.
Wednesday, we slept in and then decided to do some exploring by heading to Sullivan's Island, home to Fort Moultrie which played a part in the Revoluntionary War. We stopped in one of the seaside neighborhoods and walked to the shore to make sure the Atlantic was still rolling in as advertised. After a late lunch at Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, we returned to the campground. Selene had a 4 P.M. officer's meeting to attend. This was followed by a Social Hour at 5:30 P.M, with 14 rigs represented. The group broke up at dusk and another day was over...we thought.
Oak Plantation is a nice, large campground with free wifi, although its very slow, rules which are strictly enforced, and unfortunately, heavy ant infestation. These critters decided to make their presence known at a late hour. We ran out of bug repellant, so we made a midnight run to the neighborhood Walmart Super Center for reinforcements. Tomorrow the outside of the RV area will get a good spraying and we'll hope that solves the problem. Welcome to the south!!!
We look forward to more sightseeing on Thursday.
