Marion, NC: What Day is This??????

It's very hard to remember what day of the week it is when it seems like we've been in the same spot forever.

This past weekend, we did a lot of computer stuff, talked with some of our neighbors in the campground (most have interesting tales to share), treated ourselves to Mexican food (Mi Pueblito), paid another visit to the Verizon store where they put a new Sim card in the JetPack (it seems to be working better), got some other errands accomplished, and took a few walks around the campground.

Today was a day of ups and downs.Overnight we had some rain, and this morning the big slide was leaking again, so we were at the service center by 7:30 A.M. to report this latest problem.  Little House was quickly put inside the service building to start the drying process, and we spent the day in TJ's cafe using their wifi.  The slide's problem was addressed, and more sealing was done, and since there will be more rain tonight, it will be tested right away. As the tech was doing his repairs, he noticed that there was a hole in our roof and damage was already showing up, so we were given the news that a new roof was needed at a probable cost of around $9000 and would take a week to do....however it would probably be covered by our comprehensive insurance.  And low and behold, it will be!!! The necessary phone calls were made and  approval was given.  We were also told that the extended warranty will cover the jack replacement.

Those two pieces of good news left us with the decision on how to accomplish these repairs while trying to keep the travel schedule we had in front of us.  As of now, provided there are no more leaks overnight, we will leave Marion tomorrow for the 5 hour drive to Charleston,SC.  On Oct. 7th we'll drive back to Clayton to take care of some important tasks. If the needed jack arrives on time, we'll head back to Marion on Monday or Tuesday of next week for the jack repairs.  Then we'll head to Galax, VA for a club campout, returning to Marion for the roof  replacement.  We might be back to Clayton, and back to working on the house, by Oct. 22nd.

Life in our Little House on the Road is certainly not boring!
