There were several hours of free time on the schedule. Some went to Independence, VA for the Fall Foliage Festival and Outhouse Races. We went to the Sunny Side Store near Hillsville, VA - a 73-year-old general store - about 25 miles away. We took Art & Betty Strong with us, an older couple who also live in Fuquay-Varina. The scenery was beautiful, and the store was interesting, although none of us made any purchases. We went to Aunt Bee's Barbecue where we enjoyed a variety of items and some dessert. Hank drove some back roads and the Blue Ridge Parkway on our journey back to the campground. After a couple of hours of relaxation, it was time to line up for the short trip down the road to the Mountain Surf Seafood Restaurant which is actually in NC. This was another great meal. After some conversation in the quickly chilling night air, everyone returned to their RV's to relax some more.
The campout officially ends tomorrow morning, but we'll have more stories to tell as Little House heads back to Marion, NC to get a new roof installed.
