Back in Clayton, NC: Catching UP

Sunday in New Bern dawned grey and misty.  Event participation is always less on the Sunday ride, but the prediction for more stormy weather kept participation numbers well below 1000.  The rain never materialized and the day brightened with temperatures in the 70's, although not very sunny.........a good environment for long rides. Sunday's route took us through the sailing community of Oriental and many scenic waterside roads in the area. Unfortunately, there were at least 3 hospital runs required for incidents involving cyclists, but that is not unusual for an event of this size.  We finished our duties about 5 P.M. and were more than ready to relax with some friends back at the campground, who invited us for grilled monster-size burgers.  After much conversation and a great meal, we strolled back to the RV about 9:30 P.M.

On Monday, we left the campground after a leisurely morning and headed back to Clayton, about a 2 1/2 hour drive.

Today, we had the RV at Camping World, 2 miles down the road, for replacement of the door awning that broke back in July. We also had a leak from the water heater area on Monday, so Camping World checked that and found a split line - a relatively easy fix.

We're now heading back to get the RV and set up for two nights in Clayton, before we head to Gaffney, SC on Thursday.  More on that adventure later.
