Gaffney, SC: Second Night

Last night, we finished the day here in Gaffney by discovering the front edge of the full wall slide seal had come loose for the third time....not a good way to end the day.

This morning, we were up early to get Little House ready for the move into the service bay to go through the 30,000 mile checkup and service.  The technician arrived about 8:15, and after some questions from us, he drove the Discovery to the building.  We headed to the lounge to decide what we'd do to fill our time.  We spent some time talking with Bill and Elaine from Florida, also here for service, and traded stories and backgrounds.

The Freightliner Chassis Plant is nearby and we went on a tour of the facility.  It was an informative but noisy hour, and we came away with some knowledge of the many components that go into chassis construction for motor homes as well as school buses and delivery trucks. The economy has caused a cut back on the lines to one shift, but production has gone up dramatically over the last year - a good sign.

After the tour, we went to Fatz Cafe, one of our favorite restaurants for a great meal.  Returning to the Chassis Service Center lounge, we used the free wi-fi and visited some more with Bill and Elaine.  About 2:45, we got the good news that Little House was in good shape, the service work was complete, no brake work was needed and the bill was less than we expected.  We decided to spend another night on the property before we head to Marion, NC tomorrow where we'll be for the next 8 days, and  we hope to get the slide seal repaired while we're there.  More on that later.
