Gaffney, SC: First Night

After 4 hours of travel, we arrived at the Freightliner Chassis Service Center in Gaffney, SC about 3:45 P.M.   We are here to have the Discovery's Freightliner Chassis checked out by the center's techs. "FCCC partnered with Spartanburg Technical College on this project, and the 12,000-square-foot facility is an extension of the chassis firm's nationwide service network of 400 service centers. The new center also offers a training facility that enables interns from Spartanburg Technical College to become certified recreational vehicle technicians."

Since we have no maintenance records, and Little House is almost due for its 30,000 mile checkup, we decided to bring it to the experts here as part of our journey toward a rally next week in Marion, NC.  We're staying in the center's parking lot behind the building. Electric hookups are provided and there is water and a dump station available, and there's no charge for camping here with a service appointment.. Tomorrow a technician will greet us at 8 A.M. and take Little House to the service bay building where  he will do his inspections and necessary work.  While this service is expensive,  we felt it was the wise thing to do in order to get a true report on the condition of the  chassis and its components. Our weekend plans will depend on what happens tomorrow.
